Hamillroad Software Launches The Bellissima Network

20 October 2020

CAMBRIDGE, UNITED KINGDOM – UK-based prepress company Hamillroad Software has announced a new network to strengthen its support for its Bellissima DMS customers.

The Bellissima Network is a single forum that enables brands and printers to find Bellissima-ready trade-shops and printers around the globe.

Commenting on the launch, Danielle Kinsella, Marketing Director, says: “Our Network provides brands and printers a quick and simple way to locate qualified plate-making partners in their regions of interest and contact them directly using the dedicated page on the Hamillroad website.”

Bill Hounshell, VP Printing Services at Phototype (Olberding Brands), a Bellissima Trade Shop customer in the US, adds: “We are excited to have alternative paths supporting the implementation of Bellissima screening for our printing partners! The Bellissima Network will reduce the turnaround time greatly and open up the opportunities for many others to take advantage of this incredible technology.”

“Bellissima has taken an industrial printing technique and modernized it for today’s era of ultra-high-definition media – Bellissima is the vital link between printing and prepress. We are proud to be part of this project and the Network,” remarks Joan Rodríguez, Technical Director, Flexographic Solutions, S.L. (FGS), Spain.

“We feel the value in the Bellissima Network will grow this technology faster than ever before. By sharing our experiences with others, we can learn from one another in our quest for the perfect packaging prepress. As one of the first qualified partners in Bellissima, Cyber Graphics can help make this technology a standard in high definition print for years to come. We are excited to be part of this new knowledge-sharing platform and hope to hear and see all of the great things happening with Bellissima!” said Kevin Bourquin, VP of Operations at Cyber Graphics, USA.

“This initiative highlights the strength of collaboration within the flexographic market and the growing reach of Bellissima. We have recently seen great success in North America, South America, and the APAC region. We expect growth of the Network to continue well into 2021 and beyond,” concludes Danielle.

About Bellissima DMS
Bellissima Digitally Modulated Screening (DMS) is Hamillroad Software’s multi-award winning flexo screening technology.

Bellissima DMS is a transformative screening technology, which combines advanced plate and anilox technologies to deliver ultra-high-definition graphics for the label and flexible packaging market.

Using Bellissima, customers can produce high-quality flexographic prints equivalent to 300-450 lpi, which rival the printed image quality of offset, digital, and gravure, while also delivering ink savings to printers.

The benefits of Bellissima’s patented dot algorithm include:

  • High definition flexo printing 350-450 lpi
  • Photographic quality images
  • Fades to zero (enabled by printed highlight dots as low as 1.0% and shadow dots up to 99.5%)
  • Resists color shifts on misregistration
  • Easy adoption of fixed palette / extended gamut printing
  • Moiré free prints
  • Smooth flat tints
  • Reduced press problems: bounce, barring, and slur

Printers can also realize significant ink savings, which can be augmented by GCR based software, further improving the efficiency of press rooms while utilizing existing printing press equipment.
